- Volcanic Ash Advisory Centres (VAAC)
- Established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), nine VAAC located around the world are responsible for advising international aviation of the location and movement of clouds of volcanic ash.
- Washington DC VAAC
- The Washington DC VAAC, which is resposible for contiguous united states and Hawaii, offers resources through the National National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) web site.
- Volcanic Event Imagery Index
- Developed by the NOAA Operational Significant Event Imagery (OSEI) Team, this resource has provides composite images of the movements of volcanic ash clouds.
- National Volcanic Ash Operations Plan for Aviation
- Guidance from the Office of the Federal Coordinator for Meteorology (OFCM) for the Alaska and Northern Marianna Islands regions.
- Volcano Webcam Links
- NOAA has compiled links to webcam images from volcanos all over the world.
For European regional volcanic information:
- EUROCONTROL's Central Flow Management Unit (CFMU) web portal provides real-time information on impacts to their airspace, including volcanic activity.
- EUROCONTROL also provides their News web page, with the most recent information regarding airspace impacts from volcanic activity.
- The United Kingdom's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) provides their Volcanic Information page.
Safety and Procedure Information for Operations Near Volcanic Activity
- ICAO Document 9974: Flight Safety and Volcanic Ash
- The Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA) has issued a NAT OPS Bulletin on Volcanic Ash
- Bombardier has provided an Volcanic Ash Contamination Advisory for LearJet operators, which provides good information for all operators.
- The Flight Safety Foundation has provided an informative article, entitled "Volcanic Hazards and Aviation Safety: Lessons of the Past Decade"
- Skybrary.aero provides a helpful web resource with information related to volcanic ash and aviation safety.
- The United Kingdom's CAA has issued their Changes to the Operating Procedures in the Vicinity of High Ash Concentration Areas.
