NBAA Announces New Certified Aviation Managers

NBAA recently announced 16 individuals who successfully passed the Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) exam during 2011. Through the certification process, NBAA and the CAM Governing Board seek to raise the level of professionalism and quality of management within flight departments. The CAM designation provides industry recognition of their achievement and knowledge in the following areas of business aviation: business management, human resources, leadership, operations, and technical and facilities services. CAM Governing Board Scheduled to Discuss Accreditation Process

The NBAA CAM Governing Board will have a business meeting on January 25, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. EST. This will be a meeting involving all currently elected directors and officers of the CAM Governing Board. Key agenda items for this meeting will include continuation of the national accreditation process and preparing for the June 4-6, 2012, meeting in Washington, DC. CAM Points Available for Georgia Safety Day

The Georgia Business Aviation Association (GBAA) will host its sixth Safety Day on August 24, 2011, at the Hilton Atlanta Marietta Conference Center, in Atlanta, Georgia. This day-long program is dedicated to enhancing safety within the business aviation industry. Sessions and exhibitors will be of interest to all flight department personnel, including managers, pilots, technicians, flight attendants and schedulers/dispatchers. CAM Governing Board Begins Accreditation Process

The NBAA Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Governing Board has initiated the process of obtaining National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accreditation for the CAM Program. "Gaining NCCA accreditation is important to the future of the CAM Program," said CAM Governing Board Chairman Scott Rose. "It's not only the sign of a well managed program; it also ensures the program follows best practices established for certification programs across all professions." There are currently 175 CAMs, who are recognized as qualified professionals to lead flight departments and companies that use business aircraft. Learn more.

Seeking Candidates for CAM Governing Board

The NBAA Certified Aviation Manager Governing Board is seeking nominations for those CAMs that are qualified and interested in serving as a Director on the CAM Governing Board. All nominees must be CAMs in good standing and able to support the CAM Governing Board in the procedures needed to coordinate the CAM Program. Participation as a Director on the CAM Governing Board involves attending two meetings a year and support throughout the year on conference calls and other electronic forums. The first meeting is in early June and the second meeting is held in conjunction with the NBAA Annual Meeting and Convention. Learn more information about the CAM Governing Board.

Get CAM Credit for Ohio Business Aviation Training Standdown

The Ohio Business Aviation Training Standdown (OBATS) will be held from April 20 to 21 on the Ohio State University campus in Columbus. Attendees will receive one point toward qualifying for the NBAA Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Exam or CAM recertification. Hosted by the Ohio Regional Business Aviation Association in conjunction with the Global Aerospace SM4 training program, OBATS will offer sessions on human factors, corporate aviation security, aviation food safety, rejected takeoff considerations and other topics. PCAT "Smackdown" Approved for CAM Credit

The CAM Governing Board approved the Partnership for Corporate Aviation Training (PCAT) Safety "Smackdown: 2011. This three day event held February 1–3, 2011 in San Antonio, TX focuses on IS-BAO, OSHS, Industry Best Practices, International Training and more. Attendees are entitled to one point toward completing the application to take the CAM Exam. or if already designated as a CAM, one point is awarded toward recertification. NBAA Aircraft Registration Conference Approved for CAM Credit

The 2011 Aircraft Registration Conference scheduled for February 3-4, 2011, is eligible for use toward CAM credit. The conference content focuses on CAM learning objective Business Management, with sessions on aircraft re-registration, financing and leasing aircraft, international transactions and related issues. Attendees are entitled to one point toward completing the application to take the CAM Exam or if already designated as a CAM, one point is awarded toward recertification. CAM Governing Board Announces New Officers

NBAA's Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Governing Board today named Scott Rose of PepsiCo, Inc. as its new chairman. In addition, Jack Stockmann of Corporate Aircraft Services, LLC will serve as vice chairman; Mark Chaney of Coca Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated Operations will serve as secretary and treasurer; and Dr. Thomas Q. Carney of Purdue University Aviation Technology Department will serve as past chairman. Read the press release.

NBAA Recognizes Four New Certified Aviation Managers

NBAA congratulates four individuals who successfully passed the CAM Examination in May and have earned the official title of Certified Aviation Manager. They are: Brian Bockholt, captain and training office, Briggs & Stratton Corp.; Paul Erickson, standardization captain, ExxonMobil Aviation; Chad Lahman, director of aviation, Level3 Communications; and Denise Wilson, chief pilot, Desert Jet. Through the certification process, NBAA and the CAM Governing Board seek to raise the level of professionalism and quality of management within flight departments. The next CAM Exam will be administered in July and September in a computer-based format. Milestone CAM Reflects a Career of Dedication

Nick Verdea earns NBAA’s 100th CAM designation. A personal commitment to teamwork and leadership recently led this director of aviation from an NBAA Member Company based in Oklahoma City to earn the CAM designation. In the process, Verdea became NBAA’s 100th CAM, an exciting milestone for NBAA’s CAM program. As a pilot and flight department manager, Verdea embodies the professionalism and dedication NBAA and the CAM Governing Board seek to foster through the certification process. “With the CAM designation, I can say that I have been in the business long enough and have the necessary experience to be an excellent flight department manager,” said Verdea.
